Reasons why motivations fades


Motivation can fade for various reasons, and understanding these reasons can help you better navigate the ups and downs of your motivational levels. Here are a few common factors that can contribute to the fading of motivation:


  • Lack of clear goals

If your goals are vague or not well-defined, it can be difficult to stay motivated. When you don't have a clear vision of what you're working towards, it's easier to lose interest and motivation over time. Setting specific, achievable goals can help maintain your motivation. Set a SMART goal.


  • Unrealistic expectations

Setting unrealistic expectations can lead to disappointment and loss of motivation. If you expect instant results or progress that is beyond what is reasonably achievable, you may become discouraged when you don't see immediate success. It's important to set realistic goals and recognize that progress often takes time and effort. Take an appointment with a dietitian for help in setting realistic goals!


  • Lack of intrinsic motivation

Intrinsic motivation refers to the internal desire and enjoyment you derive from pursuing a particular goal. If your motivation primarily comes from external factors such as rewards, recognition, or approval from others, it can be more susceptible to fading.
